DAF » 1100/1300/1500
In 1955, DAF introduced the C-cabbed 1100, 1300 and 1500 series, which now featured a revised chrome grille with the number of horizontal slats reduced from seven to six. They were equipped with imported 5760cc Leyland 0.350 105bhp six-cylinder diesels. Next year DAF began work on the construction of its own engine production plant, and by the summer of the following year batches of its first engine, the DD575 (5.75 litres) - based on the Leyland 0.350. The DAF-built engines produced 120bhp SAE, and this overcame engine supply problems and allowed DAF to ramp up production of truck and bus chassis even further.
