In 1959, DAF introduced upgrades to the 1100, 1300 and 1500 forward-control models. The C-cab was given a face-lift with new grille treatment, and the range received new variants of the 575 series engine, including the turbocharged DS575, which developed 165 bhp (model 1800). The same year, a new 1600 series chassis supersedes the 1500. In 1963, the first 6x4 tandem chassis (AT 1900) and a concrete mixer chassis (AT 1902) were introduced.
