Newest addition to Autocar’s extensive line of heavy-duty trucks is a series of half cabs for the construction industry was made in 1968. The new Autocar CK-64 models are designed primarily for ready-mix and dump truck service. Main advantages of the half cab is improved maneuverability, accessibility, and weight savings. Trucks have a shorter turning radius since there’s no front overhang. About 750 lb is saved over a conventional chassis with the same components.

As with all Autocars, each CK-64 model is custom built to a fleet’s needs. Basic specs include two-, three-and four-axle models (including front wheel drive and tri-drives) with GVW’s up to 85,000 lb. Wheelbases range up to 240 in. depending on whether a forward or set-back front axle is specified. A number of diesels in the 180 to 250 hp range are offered as are a full range of transmissions and axles. The aluminum cab is laid out for easy drive entrance and boasts excellent visibility. Sliding cab door has locks in open, closed and halfway positions, too. Cab tilts 80 degrees to give excellent engine accessability.
