The European premiere of the Dongfeng's flagship tractor, which is called KX for the export markets, held at the IAA 2014. The debut of this model in China held during the Shanghai Motor Show. By the way the name of this model in China is Kinland Flagship. Volvo company, which recently has a 45% stake in Dongfeng, took a part in the development process of KX. And if the manual gearbox VT2214B made by Volvo (it used on FL and FM), the automated transmission is ZF AS Tronic.
The new engine with a displacement of 13 liters is a joint production of Dongfeng-Cummins. It develops 456 or 486 hp and meets Euro 4 or Euro 5 standards. Young Italian company UP-Design, founded in 2010 in Turin and named for the initials of the chief designer Umberto Palermo, was engaged to design of the cabin. Development of machines lasted two years. Interior dashboard looks quite modern - but there are lack of storage compartments.
At the IAA was shown a long-haul tractor Dongfeng KX DFH4250C (6x4) with a wheelbase of 3300 + 1350 mm. With a curb weight of 10,200 kg it has a gross weight of 25,000 kg. Its 13-liter diesel engine Dongfeng Cummins Euro-5 with SCR and a capacity of 480 hp at 1900 rpm helps to reach a maximum speed of 120 kph. Maximum torque of 2320 Nm is declared in the range of 1000-1300 rpm. The payload of the front axle is 7 tons, rear tandem is up to 13 tons. Other technical details: minimum ground clearance - 208 mm, all wheels air suspension, disc brakes, engine brake, retarder, EBS and ESC.
