In 1972, DAF introduced light trucks DAF 1200 and DAF 1400 with F198 cab, which is a smaller copy of a bigger cab from F1600. The model range included the 4x2 chassis 1200DA and 1400DD. Difficult economic situation led to the discontinuation of this series by the 1978-79 in favor of a new range of trucks made by "Club of Four".
