Hyundai » Trago Xcient
The new Hyundai Trago Xcient launched at the Seoul Motor Show. Hyundai say that "the new truck is the new benchmark where it comes to fuel efficiency, styling and comfort. We think this new vehicle can help us to become an important global player on the market for heavy trucks". The design is very good and it is clear that it is inspired on the latest European trucks. The internal hight in the cab is 1895 mm, so drivers can stand straight up in the interior. The bunk is 800 mm wide, and there is 1046 litre of storage space in the cab. Those are figures that look good amongst the European trucks! The Xcient comes with two engines. There is the 10 litre H-engine with 320 Hp and a torque of 1900 Nm. The second engine is the Powertech diesel with 520 Hp and 2500 Nm. In the old Trago truck Hyundai used the ZF ASTronic, and we expect to see that also in the new truck.
Hyundai claims the fuel efficiency is 7% lower than the previous Trago models. The truck will be on the South Korean market in the seccond half of this year, and the truck will also be on Comtrans in Moskow. Plans for the European market are not confirmed, but Hyundai says they espect a production volume of 60.000 units by 2017. That is impressive, and that number needs worldwide sales.
