DAF » 2800 / 3300 / 3600
In 1973, DAF introduced a wider (by 20 cm) version of tilt cab F241, which gave the company a new flagship 2800, received a wide grille made of black plastic and four round headlights. The cabin was originally available only with a low roof and sleeping compartment with two full beds. Trucks were equipped with a 11.6-liter turbocharged engine with a power of 280 hp. Thus, the model 2800 replaced the outdated 2600. In 1975, a version Supercontinental with luxury interior was presented. In 1978, DAF 2800's range was completed with 8x4 trucks in the form of FAD and mixers FMD.
From 1982, was produced model 3300 with DKX1160 diesel turbocharged engine with an output of 330 hp. Those trucks were used exclusively for long distance tranportation and special loads hauling. In 1981, all the cabins of heavy trucks received some enhanced in sound insulation, which gave decrease of internal noise by 4-5 dB. In 1985, DAF presented a Space Cab with a high roof. The same year, DAF introduced the second generation of diesel engines with turbo and air cooling, known as ATi (Advanced Turbo Intercooling), allowed to increase power while reducing fuel consumption and amount of unhealthy exhaust gases. Since the mid 80s a new flagship 3600 was produced with diesel engine DKZ 1160ATi with a power of 373 hp.
