In 2002 DAF 95XF undergone a modernization and changed the index to XF95, while the logo on the grille mentioned only XF. A new grille with beveled edges instead of vertical would help to recognize the new model. The side deflectors of 95XF had an elongated shape, while XF95 have shortened deflectors, but due to enhanced aerodynamic they are more efficient. Headlights are also changed and became narrower. The plastic body of the headlight has an additional hole to improve rinsing of bottom step.
There are many technological changes also. First of all, it is a completely new chassis. It received upgraded engines of Euro 3 Euro standard instead Euro 2. Maximum torque has increased by 50 Nm. Standard equipment includes 16-speed manual gearbox ZF Servoshift, and for an additional fee you can choose an electronically controlled 12- or 16-speed transmission ZF AS Tronic. Drum brakes gave a way to the vented disc front and rear brakes, making the process of slowing down and stopping the train more effectively. A dual-circuit brake system with EBS (Electronic Brake Sytem) and pneumatic drive gained auto-adjustment of gaps. The interior of the cabin was also improved. Along with a new dashboard XF95 uses better materials.
XF95 has a GVW of 18 tonnes (4x2), 25.7 tonnes (6x2), 26 tonnes (6x2), 26.5 tonnes (6x2 and 6x4), 32 tonnes (8x4) and 35.5 tonnes (8x2). Tractor trucks are manufactured as 4x2 (GCW is 40 tonnes), 6x2 (GCW is 44 tonnes), 6x4 (GCW is 60 tonnes) and 8x4 (GCW is 50 tonnes). They are equipped with 6-cylinder 24-valve diesel engines DAF XE with a working volume of 12.6 liters and capacity of 381, 428, 483 and 530 hp. Engines are equipped with DAF's fuel injection system UPEC, which uses injectors with electronically-controlled individual pumps to meet Euro-3 standards.
