Atkinson » Mk I with fibreglass cab

Atkinson chose 1958 to introduce its fiberglass cab with wrap-round windscreens. Most were for maximum legal weight operations and usually had Gardner engines, though some Cummins and Rolls-Royce types were utilized. A 14 ton gross rigid four wheeler joined the range in 1959 and in 1963 the Weightmaster range looked much as before but unladen weight had been reduced without sacrificing strength and 112 bhp Perkins engines were available in the lightest models.
