New for 1970 was the heaviest Series 90 with 22,000 lbs rear axle as standard equipment, and 23,000 lbs as an option. GCW could reached 76,800 lbs. A steel-butterfly hood was standard on Series 70 and 80 models. Standard on Series 90 models was a new fiberglass reinforced plastic hood and fender assembly, that tilts forward for excellent engine access. Moreover, the trucks received new designed grille, and the headlights were moved to its lower side. These models were offered in standart by 6-71N/NE diesel engine rated at 218 / 260 hp.
