The second generation of Kodiak and Topkick medium-duty trucks used cabins from Chevrolet/GMC C/K series pickup trucks, available with one or two rows of seats. They've also got a new design of the front. There are three models with differing capacity are available - C6500, C7500 and C8500. In 1996, the Kodiak/Topkick received a version with a sloping hood. The second generation of Kodiak/Topkick medium-duty trucks was presented in 2002, but the production of this model was continued in Mexico until 2008.
