In 2008, a new Mercedes-Benz 1725 race truck took a part in the Brazilian raid Rally dos Sertões. And it won this rally in its class T4.2 (trucks with full weight from 4801 to 5800 kg). The racing truck is equipped with an engine develops more than 400 hp and torque of 1800 Nm. There some important changes were made in design of the engine and transmission to increase reliability.
