The first light duty pickup of own design was introduced in 1938. It was more advantageous that produced in parallel at that time Mack Junior (designed by REO) and was extremely reliable. 1-ton capacity chassis was equipped in standard with a gasoline six-cylinder EN-11 engine of own production and 3-speed gearbox. Totally, 2686 cars of the ED series were made.
