Chevrolet » Series 40 / 50 / 60 '67

In 1967, Chevrolet presented all-new generation of medium and high duty truck lines. These trucks received a new 96" BBC cabs with the design in a style of light-duty models. The compact design of these new short-conventionals allowed the same cab-to-axle dimensions as those of last year's models with wheelbases that were 8 inches shorter. This means that short overall lengths and excellent maneuverability formerly available only with expensive low-cab-forward models, now can be used in conventional design. Gasoline-powered models could be ordered with in-line six or V8 engines. Horsepower ratings ranged from 155 for the 250 Six up to 220 for the 366 V8. Three series (Chevy C40, Chevy C50 and Chevy C60) were available in a total of 24 models with GVW ratings from 10,500 to 27,500 lbs, GCW ratings to 45,000 lbs. Diesel models with horsepower ratings from 130 for the 4-53N Detroit Diesel up to 170 for the DH478 Torq-Flow were offered in the 50 and 60 series. GVW ratings from 16,000 to 27,500 lbs. There were 6 variants of wheelbases: 125" (models 41000, 51000, 61000), 137" (models 41200, 51200, 61200), 149" (models 41400, 51400, 61400), 167" (models 41700, 51700, 61700), 189" (models 52000, 62000) and 203" (model 62300).

Chevy's tandem models were available in two basic types - Chevy C50 trailing axle tandems with GVW ratings to 30,000 lbs., and Chevy C60 dual-drive tandems with GVW ratings to 45,000 lbs. Chevy C50 tandems were available in three wheelbases with a choice of three gasoline engines - 292 Six, 327 V8 and 366 V8. The standard boogie assembly was rated at 28,000 lbs. and was equipped with hydraulic brakes. Chevy C60 tandems were powered by 366 V8 gasoline or DH-478 diesel engines. Tandem rear axle assemblies with ratings of 30,000 or 34,000 lbs. with vacuum-hydraulic or full-air brakes. In 1968, a new 427 cubic inch V8 engine and 23,000 lbs rear axle options for Chevy C60 permitted GCW ratings to 60,000 lbs. The model range got only slight changes in 1969, 1970, 1971, 1972 and 1973.
