Colonia Spezialfahrzeuge GmbH
Germany: 1945 - p.t.
A discarded Opel Blitz and the irons from a sunken ship screwed Gottfried Schönges together to form the very first COLONIA special vehicle. In the post-war days, inventiveness is in demand. The good old Opel Blitz soon won't be able to keep up. An American diamond with crane hook is used.

In the 1960s, COLONIA towing service becomes COLONIA special vehicles. The first low loader is added to the fleet, an 18 t loading crane and a 35 t mobile crane follow a little later. COLONIA specializes in the industrial sector.

In the 1970s, Alfred Hess, Rolf Lungerich and Josef Schönges are the second generation to take over the management and make COLONIA one of the largest service providers in the field of crane rental and heavy transport, which now also offers its services nationwide.
In 1999, the third generation takes over the management. A fresh wind is blowing through the company. New tractors and trailers are added, buildings are renovated and the vehicles shine in a new design.

10 years later, the company has grown up. COLONIA helps build the largest event hall in Germany, the LANXESS arena in Cologne, and the Cologne team is also involved in the LTU arena in Düsseldorf. Another big project will follow in 2009, the renovation of the BayArena in Leverkusen.

In 2019, COLONIA is still on the road to success. In the meantime, more than 230 employees are employed at two locations in the Rhineland, over 300 special vehicles are in use.
