Sisu GPT is a prototype of a MRAP vehicle developed by an order of the Ministry of Defense of Latvia. 12 manufacturers applied for the first round of the Latvian tender, with the seven remaining including Paramount Group (South Africa), Israel Aerospace (Israel), Otokar (Turkey), Sisu Auto (Finland), AM General (USA), Oshkosh Defense (USA) and UPB AS (Latvia).

The requirements of the Latvian tender includes quite specific items. For example, local industry should be involved in production, and the manufacturer must provide the vehicles with spare parts and organize personnel education process. In addition, the lifetime of armored vehicles should be at least 20 years, it should be possible to install a machine gun and there must be mine protection.

Because of its huge dimensions and serious armor protection Sisu GPT weighs as much as 14 tonnes. Its body has a V-shaped bottom and small height doors fixed from the inside by powerful bolts, so that they do not open up during the explosion. The suspensions should be fully independent.
