Chevrolet » Model T

In 1918 the first commercial Chevrolet truck - the 1-ton Model T was presented. It was an unusual looking truck, with most of its own components, but with the 4-cylinder 3.7-liter engine and transmission from the Series FA automobiles. Chevrolet made only the chassis, fenders and cowl. The body was installed by aftermarket companies or dealers. The vehicle utilized a 125-inch wheelbase, and was equipped with the front pneumatic tires and solid tires on the rear. Mechanical brakes operated only on the rear wheels. The Model T was governed for a maximum speed of 25 mph. Since 1921 the pneumatic tires were standard all around.
