Mercedes-Benz » LP

The LP series included a very extensive range of models, unified with the L series and differed by the cabin over the engine. Since 1956, a lightweight 6.5-ton 145 hp models L / LP 329 were produced. In the same year, the most powerful model L / LP 326 have been presented. It had a payload of 8,6-9,2 tons and were equipped with a diesel engine OM326 (10,809 cm3, 192-200 hp) with four overhead valves per cylinder, fully synchronized transmission with pneumatic control and power steering. Since 1958, this engine was used on quite a remarkable car - a 9-ton 3-axles model LP333 (6x2) with a spacious cabin over the engine and the twin-steer front axles. It offers great stability and had a maximum speed of 90 km/h. Two years later, this original twin-steer chassis have been replaced by the classic 2-axle model LP334 with a GCVW of 32 tons. Totally 1833 trucks of LP333 series have been produced. A truck tractor version LPS333 were produced based on the LP333 with the same wheel configuration. General list of modifications: LP311 / LP312 / LP315 / LP321 / LP322 / LP323 / LP326 / LP328 / LP329 / LP331 / LP334 / LP333 / LPS333 / LP338. After the renaming in 1963 the trucks received new indices - LP322 is LP1113, LP327 is LP1413, LP328 is LP911, LP338is LP1418. In 1964, a new generation has been presented.
